Arab Revolt - What really happened

If you don't like diving deep into the depths of history, this post is not for you. Go read a half-page summary or watch a 10 minute YouTube video about the Arab revolt and consider yourself well informed.

But if you suffer -like me-from an insatiable appetite for truth-hunting, well then I'm pleased to share with you my top-list of authentic records about what REALLY happened 100 years ago back home in Arabia. Enjoy!

In 1936 Lord William Peel was commissioned by the British Royal authorities to investigate the issue of Arab-Jewish unrest in the area of Palestine. The report he submitted became known as the Peel Commission Report, and it explains the events that led to the Arab-Jewish conflict over Palestine, including a detailed account of the Arab revolt during World War 1.

Here is the full text of the Peel Commission Report. The report includes full correspondence between Arab and British leaders to negotiate an alliance against the Turks just before the war. Read on from page 16 to see how the Arabs missed a golden opportunity to negotiate a decent binding deal with the British at a time when it was a real possibility.

This here is a little-known goldmine: I found an online copy of the Source Records of the Great War, which is a detailed account of all the events of World War 1 prepared by independent contemporary historian Charles Horne [1870-1942]. Read on from section 21 (page 401) to see how the overtaking of Palestine from the Turks by the British did not rely on any help from the Arabs.

Lastly, here is a US intelligence report prepared back in the 60s. Read on from page 7 to see how the discovery of the secret Sykes-Picot agreement by the Arabs in 1917 did NOT affect their loyalty to the British alliance. I find that little bit of detail of crucial importance and it certainly opens the door to a LOT of questions.

Do you know of any other bullshit-free sources about that time in history? If so please share!
